Klara interrupts the conversation and reassures them that things will be different this time. However, Mr. Capaldi clarifies that Klara is meant to become the new Josie. Klara and Paul talk, and she shares her plan to destroy the Cootings Machine. Paul agrees to help her. They meet Josie and Rick at a café, where they discuss Rick's abilities and Josie's future. The group encounters a crowd and faces various interactions, including Klara being discriminated against as a robot.


Afterward, they go to a diner, and Mother and Josie have a private conversation. Paul and Klara talk about destroying the Cootings Machine, and Paul explains his concerns about Josie's replica. Klara agrees to extract a liquid from herself to destroy the machine. They join Josie and Mother, and they drive back. Josie tells Klara that Mother suggested quitting her job to care for Josie full-time, but Josie declined.
